CGS DISCOVERY #2

Every summer has its soundtrack, and this year’s has been the Californian band Modern Color.

As a lover of all those genres that fall under the “Post” label, this is one of those pretty hard-to-classify bands that sit somewhere between non-traditional rock, unconventional hardcore and non-commercial pop. And they have pretty much everything I love in a band: melancholic melodies with a West Coast feel, sharp guitars, intricate rhythms and, above all, musicians having fun and just messing around with the music.

Although I love their entire discography, it’s their latest album, “There Goes the Dream”, that has made this ending summer a little easier to get through — and it’s still keeping me company now, as the light gets softer and the skies turn red, finally announcing the long-awaited end of the season.

I know it might not always seem like it, but there’s still so much great music out there to discover.
